In this talk at the inaugural Annual Scientific Conference held by King’s College Hospital London Dubai, I share my experience as an amateur athlete dealing with the physical and psychological impact of surgery on both knees. After years of running six days a week, I suddenly faced an expected 18-month recovery period, with no guarantee of returning to the life I knew.

I explain the three strategies that helped me rebuild. These are ideas that apply far beyond sport, injury, or recovery. They can be used by anyone.
